Privacy Policy
Home Intercom (also listed as “HomeComms”) · Last updated: June 6, 2026
Home Intercom is a voice-intercom app: you hold a button to speak, and your voice plays on your own
Sonos speakers. This policy explains what information the app handles, why, and your choices. The app is
provided by VB Dev Enterprises (“we,” “us”). Questions: varunb007@gmail.com.
Information we handle
- Sonos sign-in (authorization): When you tap “Sign in with Sonos,” Sonos gives us
authorization tokens so the app can list and control your Sonos speakers. We never see or
store your Sonos password.
- Voice Monkey token (if you connect Amazon Echo): If you choose to connect Amazon Echo
devices via Voice Monkey, we store your Voice Monkey API token server-side to send audio to your Echo
speakers. This token is removed when you disconnect Echo or delete your account.
- Speaker & household information: The names and identifiers of your Sonos
speakers, rooms, and groups (retrieved from Sonos) so you can choose where to broadcast.
- Voice recordings: While you hold the talk button, your voice is recorded,
converted to an audio file, briefly hosted so your Sonos speakers can fetch and play it, and then
automatically deleted shortly after playback (typically within minutes). Recordings
are used only to deliver your broadcast — they are not stored long-term, transcribed, analyzed, sold,
or used for advertising.
- Preferences: Your saved groups, favorites, and volume setting, stored so they sync
across your devices.
- Usage metrics: Minimal operational data (e.g., number of broadcasts, timing,
success/failure) tied to your household, to keep the service working and understand whether it is
useful.
- Notification token (if enabled): A device push token, used only to notify your
other devices when someone in your household broadcasts.
- Technical logs: Standard server logs (timestamps, error information) for security
and reliability.
How we use information
Solely to provide and maintain the service: to authenticate you with Sonos, discover your speakers,
deliver your voice broadcasts, sync your preferences across your devices, and keep the service secure and
reliable. We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell it.
Microphone
The microphone is accessed only while you hold the talk button, solely to capture the
message you choose to broadcast. The app never records in the background.
How information is shared
- Sonos: To play a broadcast, we send commands and a temporary link to your audio
clip to the Sonos cloud API to control your own speakers. This is governed by Sonos’s privacy policy.
- Service providers: The service is hosted on Fly.io. If notifications are enabled,
they are delivered via Apple Push Notification service and/or Google Firebase Cloud Messaging. These
providers process data only to provide hosting and message delivery on our behalf.
- We do not sell your data or share it with third parties for advertising.
- Legal: We may disclose information if required by law.
Data retention
- Voice recordings: deleted automatically shortly after playback.
- Sonos tokens & preferences: retained while your household is connected; removed
when you sign out, disconnect, or request deletion.
- Usage metrics & logs: retained for a limited period for reliability and
product analytics.
Your choices & data deletion
- Sign out in the app to end your session.
- To delete your account and all associated data (Sonos tokens, preferences, and household record),
go to Settings → Sonos → Delete account and data in the app, or email
varunb007@gmail.com to request deletion. You can also
revoke the app’s access in your Sonos account settings.
Security
Data is transmitted over HTTPS. Sonos authorization tokens are stored on our server and are never
exposed to the app on your device. We take reasonable measures to protect your information.
Children
Home Intercom is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your
jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date above when we do.
